Team presentation :

Our team 8 is a recruit of several researchers who work closely in collaboration. This is made up of 4 sub-team leaders. The axes of this team cover a wider field than its title would suggest. We are indeed interested in condensed matter in all its diversity, even if we like to group our activities according to four main axes, involving a number of researchers roughly equivalent

The first team under the coordination of Professor Ouahrani is rather interested in the phenology behind the materials than in their predictive study. Due to these international collaborations, we are specialized in the study of the effect of hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic constraints on several forms of crystalline compounds, such as bulk, monolayers, and heterostructures type van der Waals. This team uses different theoretical techniques in order to analyze numerically the chemical bonds and the mechanisms of phase transitions. The team is also interested in the phenomena of nonlinear optics and adsorption in 2D surfaces. Another fruitful axis is that of topological analyzes of electronic density applied to a wider range of materials.

The scientific goal of Pr Bekhechi's second team is the study of phase transitions by statistical physics methods such as the effective field and Monté Carlo. She is interested in spin models which she solves by these methods.

Environmental concerns regarding refrigerants as well as the convenience of using non-toxic and inexpensive materials, have aroused increasing interest in researching new high-performance technologies in thermoelectric or magnetocaloric materials for energy conversion to small and a large-scale power generation and refrigeration devices, including cooling electronic devices for thermoelectric or magnetocaloric generators. The objective of the third team of Dr. Brahmi is the predictive study of the physical properties of rare earth materials for clean energy for magnetocaloric and thermoelectric conversion.

The research carried out within the team "group of numerical methods interpretative of the electronic structure of materials" revolves around the following themes:

1. Monte Carlo method, Issing model
2. Magnetic, ferromagnetic materials, physical properties.
3. Phase transition
4. Topological analysis of matter.
5. Electronic localization function (ELF).
6. Ab initio method.
